The Senate blocked Biden’s vaccine mandate for the private sector in a narrow 52-48 vote. Democratic Sens. Joe Manchin and Jon Tester joined all 50 Republican senators to overturn the mandate.
New Mexico Sen. Jacob Candelaria left the Democrat Party. He announced that he believes the U.S. political system is flawed because it has just two parties and leaves “no room to debate, no room for discussion, and more importantly, no adherence to the rule of law.”
America’s announcement of a diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Winter Olympics, has had a domino effect. Members of the Five Eyes Coalition including Australia, the United Kingdom and Canada have decided to not send officials to the games either, but athletes will still be allowed to participate.
